The favorite domain registrar of the year votes for 2021 are in and the top registrar is not one that advertises the most in the mass media. Dynadot.com won the annual survey taken by NamePros.com. the biggest domainers forum online.
The company, which is recognized for outstanding customer service by many seasoned domainers won the survey by a huge margin, bringing in nearly half of all the votes cast at 48.7 percent. The second closest didn’t even get half of that figure. NameCheap counted 21.9 percent of the votes.
Third place was a bit of a surprise since the company had been hacked during the last part of 2021 and had suffered online criticism for a lack of security revolving around its online platform. Epik took 17.7 percent, while a newcomer in the registrar space, Porkbun found it’s way to the fourth position.
A favorite among the mass media because of its popular advertising, Godaddy landed in sixth place with only 82 votes. The world’s largest domain seller has sustained widespread criticism as a result of its customer service and high registration prices since it went public a few years ago. The company has spent millions of dollars to popularize itself with online and television advertising, including spots during the nation’s most powerful TV sports viewing event, the NFL Superbowl.
Godaddy was chosen as the world’s favorite registrar back in 2017 but has seen its standing decline since then. The corporation has made several changes to adjust to a decline in popularity among professional domainers but has not been able to make domainers happy with its customer service in years.
Perhaps new efforts taken under new management can help improve things at the world’s largest volume registrar. Godaddy recently launched a consumer panel to assist the corporation in making improvements to regain its once popular standing.
